We are so proud of our Elementary Battle of the Books teams!

Each year, fourth and fifth grade students take on the incredible challenge of reading 16 books and working together as a team to prepare for competition. This takes dedication, teamwork, and a true love of reading. Our students rose to the occasion.

This year, 17 elementary schools participated across three competitions, an amazing display of commitment and collaboration.

Our top six teams- Black Mountain Elementary, Enka Intermediate, North Windy Ridge Intermediate, Glen Arden Elementary, Sand Hill-Venable Elementary, and Oakley Elementary- came together Tuesday to compete for the final spots.

Congratulations to our winners:

🥉 3rd Place: Black Mountain Elementary School
🥈 2nd Place: North Windy Ridge Intermediate School
🥇 1st Place: Glen Arden Elementary School

Glen Arden will advance to the Regional Competition, which will be hosted at Buncombe County Schools on April 16. We are cheering them on as they represent our district!

A special thank you to the BCS Foundation for providing snacks and pizza for our students. We are so grateful for your support in making this experience even more special!
