      ARTICULATION

Here are some tips for practicing speech sounds (articulation) with your child.

  • Be a good speech model by pronouncing (articulating) all your words well before your child.
  • Over emphasize the targeted sound or sounds you hear that are not produced correctly.
  • Gain eye contact with your child and have your child watch your mouth when you say the word with the targeted sound slowly.

NOTE:  You do NOT have to tell you child how to produce the sound.  Only give a model and get your child to watch your mouth while you speak.  You can also practice in front of a mirror so that your child can watch herself/himself.
