Welcome to FIRST GRADE!
This year will be very exciting for your child. We will learn so much and have a great time along the way!
 
About Ms. Vaughn:
I am originally from Tennessee and have lived in the Asheville area for over 20 years. I have taught for 22 years at Leicester Elementary:  six years in fifth grade, six in kindergarten, and ten in 1st grade. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and I received my Master's degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University. I also have National Board Certification in Early Childhood Education. Outside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, practicing Tae Kwon Do, and spending time with my dogs-- Mitch, Bailey, & Sadie. I was named Leicester Elementary School's 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year.

About Ms. Wooten:
Ms. Wooten, our assistant, has lived in the Asheville area for over 20 years. She has been an assistant for 21 years at Leicester. We have worked together for the past 15 years. Ms. Wooten has three children - a daughter and two sons, and three grandsons!  Outside of school, she enjoys reading and spending time with family. Ms. Wooten was named Assistant Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008.
