Welcome to FIRST GRADE!
This year will be very exciting for your child. We will learn so much and have a great time along the way!
About Ms. Vaughn:
I am originally from Tennessee and have lived in the Asheville area for over 20 years. I have taught for the past 23 years at Leicester Elementary: six years in fifth grade, six in kindergarten, and eleven in 1st grade. I look forward to year 24 and year 12 in 1st grade! I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and I received my Master's degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University. I also have National Board Certification in Early Childhood Education. Outside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, practicing Tae Kwon Do, and spending time with my dogs-- Mitch, Bailey, & Sadie. I was named Leicester Elementary School's 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Vaughn loves to play soccer!

Ms. Vaughn is a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo!
About Ms. Wooten:
Ms. Wooten, our assistant, has lived in the Asheville area for over 20 years. She has been an assistant for 23 years at Leicester. We have worked together for the past 17 years. Ms. Wooten has three children - a daughter and two sons, and five grandchildren! Outside of school, she enjoys reading, cycling, hiking, and spending time with family. Ms. Wooten was named Assistant Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008.
