Welcome to our 4th grade class! I graduated from Western Carolina University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and began teaching 2nd grade at Leicester Elementary in the Fall of 1991. Later in my teaching career, I completed my K-12 Reading Certification from Mars Hill College to begin teaching as a Title 1 Reading Specialist. I enjoyed teaching 3rd grade at NBES  for 11 years. During the  2018-2019 school year, I returned to Leicester Elementary to teach 4th grade.  I just completed 28 wonderful years of teaching children!
I have been married for 27 years and have a 21 year old daughter.  She is a Junior at WCU.  We have 2 horses, 3 dogs, and a koi pond.  We also have a farm with cattle.  When I get a chance, I love to read, garden, vacation at the beach and go to the lake.  It is my goal to help each child make as much progress as he or she can during our year together. Keeping parents informed about the progress of their child is very important to me. Please check each Friday for a parent newsletter to come home with details of our learning and upcoming events. I believe every child deserves to have a successful and positive learning environment in which he/she can reach their highest potential!  I'm looking forward to another exciting year!
