An Autobiographical Sketch

My decision to pursue teaching began early in my college career. I believe that my experiences in a variety of educational settings helped me not only discover that a teaching career was perfect for me, but also it prepared me to become an educator. I have worked with many different ages as well as with a broad spectrum of children, ranging from those who have special needs to those who excel in school. All of my experiences have been enlightening and enjoyable and I feel as though I have

been able to grow as a teacher with them.

As an undergraduate at Rutgers University, I studied English because it is a subject I love and excel in. As a child my mind was stimulated by a few memorable English teachers and thus it became my favorite subject. I hope as a teacher to also create a lasting impression like this on my students.

In my graduate studies, I concentrated on elementary education because I wanted to pursue a career as a K-5 teacher. Having the opportunity to work with young children in a variety of settings has been a wonderful learning experience for me as an educator. Working with children is, for me, a rewarding job because it helps enrich their lives and allows me to make learning fun for others.

A little more about me...

My husband and I moved to Asheville about nine years ago. We loved the area and wanted to establish ourselves here. This is will be my tenth year being at Leicester Elementary and I'm very happy to be a part of the staff here. Prior to teaching, I have worked with children in many different settings and capacities such as an assistant, tutor and mentor. I began my career student teaching kindergarten. I started as a Title I assistant and have taught in third grade and first grade. I'm so thankful to be a part of such a wonderful first grade team, a caring community and awesome students! Please browse my pages to get more information about my classroom. I will be updating information frequently so please come back and visit soon!
